The Sound Of Music

I noticed these 2 young men sitting outside a large concrete building. The contrast of concrete, marble and the bright red flowers immediately caught my attention. One of the young men was listening to music in his headphones holding what I assume is his mother’s purse. Sitting next to him I imagine to be his brother who happened to look right into the lens as I released the shutter. Perhaps waiting for their mother who is inside the building.

This photo reminded me of the poem by Tupac Shakur “The Rose That Grew From Concrete”. Concrete is hard and symbolizes Impenetrable longevity, while the flowers symbolize growth and perseverance. Along with the 2 young men I thought this photo had harmony and a story. I wonder what music was playing in his headphones at this very moment?
